District 18 has created a new website to provide you with an improved visitor experience. Over the next few years the District and all of its school websites will be moving to a new content management system.  An improved website design and structure have also been developed.

Purpose

The purpose of the new format is to provide for a more consistent look and feel as visitors browse various school sites within the district. Another goal is to provide a mechanism for both district office and school staffs to easily add new content, particularly multimedia, to their appropriate site.  This should provide visitors with a dynamic experience as new information becomes available on a regular basis.  A great example of this can be found at one of our school websites, Park Street Elementary.  Park Street is producing daily "Morning Announcement" videos to share with their students and the public.  Feel free to visit their site, http://parkstreet.nbed.nb.ca/  to view a sample.

Improvements and New Features

Navigation

Improved navigation allows district visitors to quickly access any area of the website.
"Filters" provide users the ability to quickly sort through areas that have a lot of information (for example, one can filter by elementary, middle or high when visiting the schools page).

Search

Search may be the quickest and easiest way to find information on the district site.  You can search the entire website from any page using the search box at the top right. This search feature will also be available in the same location on school sites.

Other Enhancements

  • Staff page with direct contact information.
  • Upcoming Events Calendar
  • RSS feeds for frequently updated content such as district news releases.  Each District "Services" page, including all "Teacher's" page will have an RSS feed.
  • Twitter feeds for those that prefer to be informed using this mechanism.
  • Synchronization!  As schools are added to the new platform, their news will be reflected on the District home page and vice versa.
