18-383 - Hiring Tutors by Parents Guardians

The District recognizes that parent(s)/guardian(s) may want to engage the services of an academic tutor. For that purpose, the District shall provide a list of tutor names to schools for distribution to parent(s)/guardian(s) on request. Please see attachment for more information.

School District 18 believes that maintaining a safe and positive learning environment is a priority and the misuse of personal electronic equipment specifically during instructional hours can disrupt the learning environment of the classroom.

The Education Act gives parents, guardians and independent students the right to appeal decisions made by educators in the public school system.  Decisions made by educators that the parent/guardian or student may appeal are:

It is the school’s responsibility to maintain a positive and safe environment for students. It is essential that certain guidelines be established concerning searches of persons, possessions, lockers or desks.

Appreciating the value which may be derived from worthwhile research projects, the District recognizes the need for cooperative efforts to assist in the execution of research projects, as well as the need to protect individuals affected by such endeavours

18-379 - Rights & Responibilities of Parents/ Guardians of students with Exceptionalities

The supportive role of parent(s) or guardian(s) in the educational development of the exceptional student is crucial to the success of the student.  The District makes a commitment to involve the parents in the planning for and the provision of educational services for exceptional students.  Parental rights and responsibilities in relation to the delivery of education programs to exceptional students are recognized.
